What is CORE?
Community Oriented Recovery and Empowerment (C.O.R.E.) Services are person-centered, recovery-focused behavioral health services designed to help adults with mental health or substance use challenges build the skills needed to live independently and thrive in their communities. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, C.O.R.E. Services provide individualized support in real-life settings—at home or in the community—to help individuals achieve their personal recovery goals.
Services may include Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment (CPST), Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR), Family Support and Training (FST), and Peer Support Services, all of which promote independence, improve daily living skills, strengthen natural support systems, and empower individuals to participate fully in work, school, family, and community life.
Available to eligible Medicaid members enrolled in qualifying New York State managed care plans, C.O.R.E. Services provide the guidance, education, and ongoing support needed to build lasting recovery and improve overall quality of life.
